Subject: A Partnership Opportunity for White River Valley Schools
To the Representatives of the Worthington Solar Project and National Grid Renewables,
We are writing to you today in the spirit of cooperation and with a shared desire to see Greene County thrive.
As you observed during the recent County Council meeting, there was a great deal of discussion regarding the future of the Worthington Solar Project. One specific topic, an additional $50,000 annual contribution to the White River Valley (WRV) School District, ended in a stalemate.
Due to a split vote, and a lot of confusion about what was happening, the Council was unable to formally request these funds, despite indications during the meeting that your team was open to the idea and could have approved such a request quickly.
We understand that the tax abatement agreement has been finalized and that you are under no contractual obligation to provide this additional funding. However, we believe this presents a unique opportunity for you to demonstrate your commitment to being a long-term partner in our community.
We respectfully ask that you consider making this $50,000 annual donation to WRV Schools voluntarily, bridging the gap that the Council vote left open.
The political process can be complicated, but supporting our students is a goal that unites us all. By stepping forward to support the school district where your project resides, you would be sending a powerful message of goodwill to the families and residents of Greene County.
Our Invitation to You
We recognize that there has been tension surrounding this project, and we want to help turn the page. If you are willing to make this gesture of faith to our schools, we would like to offer you a platform to share your story directly with the community:
- An Open Interview: We welcome the chance to sit down with your team for a full, unedited interview. This would allow you to explain the project's benefits and your company’s values in your own words.
- Site Visit & Updates: We are open to touring the property and sharing updates with our followers, highlighting the work being done and the safety measures in place.
The debates regarding the approval of the project are behind us. Now, our focus is on ensuring the best possible outcome for our small community. We hope you will join us in that mission by investing in the education of our future generations.
We look forward to hearing from you and hope to welcome you as a generous supporter of WRV Schools and Greene County as a whole.
Sincerely,
Adam Wence
