Jack Craig Greenwood, 83, of Linton, went home to Heaven on Thursday, March 12, 2026. He was born to Ovid and Juanita (Rice) Greenwood on April 4, 1942, in Linton. He was sad to have to depart, but he is happily reunited with his parents and other family and friends who preceded him into eternity.
Jack met his beloved wife, Teresa (Miller) Greenwood, at First Baptist Church in Linton, where he served as a deacon, trustee, and Sunday School teacher. They married there on October 28, 1972, and would spend 53 wonderful years together. Also missing him deeply is their daughter Amy (James) Swick of Fishers, son Ryan Greenwood of Fishers, granddaughter Adriana (Osiah) Offutt of Indianapolis, grandson Grady Swick of Fishers, sister Dixie Richardson of Bloomington, mother-in-law Barbara Miller of Linton, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A graduate of Linton-Stockton High School in 1960, he went on to receive his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Education Specialist (EdS) degrees from Indiana State University. His students knew and loved him as Mr. Greenwood during a 50-year career in education: Six as a teacher and coach at Linton-Stockton Schools, 35 as a principal at Dugger Elementary School and Pleasantville Elementary School, and nine more as a substitute teacher after retirement.
He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. He walked in faith, taught and led with wisdom and compassion, and adored his family and community.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 11:00 am, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton of Walton Funeral Service, Inc., with Reverend David Tyra officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service, at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland.
Visitation will be at Welch & Cornett on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 pm and on Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of service.
