Linton Welcomes David "Brooks" Murrell as New Chamber of Commerce Executive Director

Linton Welcomes David "Brooks" Murrell as New Chamber of Commerce Executive Director

The Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce is welcoming a new face to its leadership. David Murrell, who primarily goes by his nickname "Brooks," has been appointed as the incoming Executive Director and will officially step into his new office in early November, following a slate of introductory events in October.

Brooks takes the helm of an organization dedicated to the promotion and stimulation of the Linton and Greene County economy. The Chamber continually strives to enhance the local quality of life through business, industry, and recreation.

By coordinating efforts to bring commerce to the area, the Chamber allows small businesses to be a part of something larger than themselves. This includes spearheading the Linton Freedom Festival, a yearly celebration centered around the 4th of July that boasts Indiana’s largest Independence Day parade. Embracing the county’s motto, “Gateway to Business, Corridor to Nature,” the Chamber promotes access to commercial hubs like Westgate Crane Technology Park alongside natural recreation sites such as Shakamak State Park, Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife Area, and Greene-Sullivan State Forest.

Bringing a varied background in community building to this mission, Brooks previously lived in South Bend, where he successfully transformed an empty building into a shared space for a church and a local business. Following the pandemic, he relocated to Bloomfield and quickly embedded himself in the local community.

Prior to joining the Chamber, he worked part-time at the Linton Assembly of God, served as a substitute teacher, and even performed local stand-up comedy to connect with fellow residents.

Describing himself as an "open book," Brooks plans to act as a collaborative leader. He intends to support the Chamber board’s current, healthy trajectory rather than upending established plans. His primary goals include backing ongoing community initiatives and working to expand the Chamber's membership.

A true Hoosier, Brooks is a massive fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana University, David Letterman, Michael Jackson, 80s music, and pizza.
