Hadestown: Teen Edition, a musical displaying the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, has been cast at Linton-Stockton High School starring Landon Tharp, Cambry Hawkins, Alyssa Leshinski, Maddox Mason, and Leah McKee.
"I love how [my character] just doesn't give up on his love for Eurydice," Landon Tharp, who will be taking on the role of Orpheus stated, "He literally goes to hell and back to bring her back to the real world."
He will be playing opposite Cambry Hawkins, another junior in Linton-Stockton's drama department. She shared why she chose to audition for Eurydice, a poor girl always looking for something to eat.
"I just really liked her character and I liked her storyline," Hawkins stated, "I really liked the growth that she goes throughout the whole show. Especially the differences in her character from Act I to Act II is very significant, and it's really cool to be able to portray both sides of her."
Alyssa Leshinski, a senior portraying Persephone in Hadestown, revealed what she believes the audience will take home with them after seeing the show.
"Hadestown will teach the audience that love is something we can look for in all forms of life, " Said Leshinski.
Katie Graves directs alongside Tiffany Todd and Brittany Lynn for all of Linton's musicals. She states that Hadestown will be a challenge.
"We're gonna have a live orchestra this time for the first time in a very long time, which means that balancing the sound is gonna be different," Said Graves, "Everything is kinda like a level above in Hadestown, so it's gonna be fun."
Other members of the cast include Leah McKee as Hermes and Maddox Mason as Hades. The three fates are Lily Mauder, Mia Cole, and Nora Brinson, and the rest of the ensemble will be played by Carson Albright, Maxx Capehart, Haylie King, Kyndal Ballard, Maddilyn Harris, Adelyn Ball, Erica Van Horn, Alexander Dale, Jane Knight, and Lucy Lee. Hadestown: Teen Edition will be performed on March 5-7 at Linton Stockton High School's Auditeria.
