LYONS, Ind. — A local family is starting from scratch today after a devastating fire in Lyons claimed a home and all belongings inside just weeks before the holidays.

The fire, which occurred last night, resulted in a total loss for the homeowner and his daughter. In addition to losing the roof over their heads, the family lost clothing, school supplies, and daily essentials. In a heartbreaking turn of events, every Christmas present that had been purchased for the young girl was also destroyed in the blaze.

Family members are now asking the community to rally together to help ease this unimaginable burden and bring a spark of joy back to their holiday season.

"Let’s rally together and give them a Christmas that reminds them they’re not alone, even in the darkest times," said Charlotte Brinegar, who is organizing donations for her daughter and her daughter's father.

How You Can Help

The family is in immediate need of clothing and basic items to begin rebuilding their lives. Donations can be picked up locally by contacting Charlotte, or monetary donations can be made directly to the family.
