State Rep. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) was invited to the White House by President Donald J. Trump for the Clean Beautiful Coal event, where he signed an executive order aimed at supporting the coal industry.
Members of Congress, representatives of the coal industry, coal miners and their families were among those in attendance. Kayla Blackford of Dugger, who works at Bear Run Mine, spoke at the event. Trump's executive order directs the Department of War to enter into agreements to purchase electricity from coal-fired power plants for military operations.
"I was honored to join President Trump for this event recognizing the importance of the coal industry and the hard work of the men and women who are committed to powering our nation's infrastructure," Borders said. "Kayla represented Southern Indiana well and I'm proud of her work and those at Bear Run Mine and other mines in Southwest Indiana."
State Rep. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) represents House District 45,
which includes all of Greene and Sullivan counties, and portions of Daviess, Knox and Vigo counties.
