Three local organizations were promised a massive: $1.5 million each from the new local data center development in Sullivan County. But weeks past the contractual July 1 deadline, those bank accounts remain empty.
While a source familiar with the project confirmed the $4.5 million is sitting ready to go, they allege that local government is not prepared to receive the funds.
There is also confusion of whether there will be direct, lump-sum payments or if the county commissioners will hold the cash in an investment fund to "drip-feed" the money over time.
