SWITZ CITY, Ind. – For more than 18 months, construction crews have been hard at work transforming the Hebron Home for Boys into a warm, home-like environment. Now, Open Arms Christian Ministries says they are at the "finish line," but they need one final push from the community to open the doors.
Restoring Hope and Building a Home
Since 1985, Open Arms has been committed to serving neglected, abused, and troubled youth by providing homes, education, and hope during desperate times. The renovation of the Hebron Home for Boys is designed to give these youth more room to interact, cook, and engage in activities that help them heal and thrive. Updates include a functional kitchenette, refreshed bedrooms and bathrooms, and a welcoming living area.
The organization believes that every youth has a fundamental right to a healthy home environment and a wholesome family life. "Each youth that comes into our care comes to us with a story," the ministry states. "Open Arms' goal is to change the outcomes of their story... to live out their story with the best possible ending".
The Final Milestone: $100,000 by June
While the physical transformation—supported by the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation and the Smithville Charitable Foundation—is nearly complete, a financial hurdle remains.
Due to anticipated delays in state reimbursement, Open Arms has been advised to raise the equivalent of three months' operating expenses before officially reopening. The organization has set a goal to raise $100,000 by the end of June.
"We are at the finish line—and now, more than ever, we need your support," the organization appealed in a recent update.
