LINTON, IN — Popular local retailer DYERS is turning the page on an exciting new chapter. After years of serving the community from its home on Main Street, the family-owned business is relocating to a much larger, expanded space at 1600 A St. NE.
The community is invited to celebrate the official Grand Opening on Friday, June 12th, marking a major milestone for a business that quite literally grew from the ground up.

From a Living Room to a Tri-County Footprint
The story of DYERS is rooted in family, faith, and hard work. The business began humbly around 2004–2005 when the founder, Kim Dyer, a stay-at-home mother of six and wife to the local Worthington Assembly of God pastor, started selling Avon on the side to help support her family.
What started as a small side-hustle quickly took over the family home:
Inventory expanded from shelves in the front living room to a one-car garage, growing to include candles and primitive decor.
The business moved into its first official brick-and-mortar building on the triangle in Worthington, opening as Dyer’s General Store and Outlet.
The store expanded its apparel lines, eventually opening additional locations in Spencer and Linton (2014). In 2017, the business consolidated its operations into the beloved downtown building at 12 N. Main Street in Linton.
A New Era of Leadership
In September 2024, leadership of the store officially passed to the founder's child, Christian Dyer, who brought a powerhouse corporate retail background to the family business. Having been hired at age 19 as the youngest manager in their local Target store's history, the Christian spent over 17 years in Target management, specializing in logistics, apparel, and human resources.
This unique blend of big-box retail expertise and small-town heart has guided the store's recent evolution, balancing modern styling and inventory management with the foundational values laid by the founder.
"More Than a Clothing Store"
While the store’s inventory has grown to include highly curated men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel, accessories, and gifts, the heart of DYERS remains focused on community impact and ministry.
"In our community we have prayed with people, we've cried with people and hugged on people in our store. My goal is to make this so much more than a clothing store, but a place where people feel the love of God... it all comes back to making an impact on people and shining the light and love of Jesus."
Alongside coworker Amasa, Christian focuses heavily on personal styling, aiming to help customers step out of their comfort zones, build confidence, and feel beautiful for life's special occasions.
What to Expect at the New Location
While the owners note they will deeply miss the historic Main Street building where they experienced so much growth, the new location at 1600 A St. NE offers much-needed space to stretch out.
- New Departments: The larger footprint will allow DYERS to introduce entirely new merchandise departments over time.
- Nostalgic "Easter Eggs": Longtime customers will notice thoughtful nods to the business's history throughout the new building, including familiar lighting fixtures and a soft sage-colored interior that perfectly mimics the paint color of the original Worthington store.
The community is encouraged to come out on June 12th to explore the new space, browse the expanded selections, and celebrate this enduring local legacy.
