Linton, IN — Greene County General Hospital (GCGH) is excited to announce it has been officially recognized as a Weather-Ready Nation (WRN) Ambassador by the National Weather Service (NWS) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
This Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador designation recognizes organizations that are committed to strengthening community resilience and promoting preparedness for extreme weather, water, and climate events.
As an Ambassador, GCGH joins a nationwide network of businesses, healthcare systems, nonprofits, and government entities working collaboratively to help save lives and protect property through proactive preparedness efforts. The WRN Ambassador program is a NOAA-wide initiative designed to build partnerships that amplify consistent and accurate weather safety messaging. As an ambassador, GCGH will help share preparedness information, engage vulnerable populations, and collaborate with NOAA and local NWS offices to improve communication before and during hazardous weather events.
GCGH Director of Emergency Management Ivan Usrey says, “As a Weather-Ready Ambassador, our hospital strengthens our ability to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to severe weather. This designation enhances our access to trusted weather information, strengthens coordination with emergency partners, reinforces staff training, and supports uninterrupted, safe care for our patients and community.”
GCGH looks forward to working alongside NOAA, the National Weather Service, and fellow Ambassadors to continue advancing preparedness, safety, and resilience throughout Greene County.
