SULLIVAN COUNTY Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a road closure for State Road 48 in Sullivan County.
Beginning on or around Monday, December 1, crews will close State Road 48 near Shelburn. This closure will occur between County Road 200 East and County Road 300 East.
This road closure will allow for a bridge replacement project. Work is expected to last through May of 2026, depending on the weather.
The official detour for this project is U.S. 41 to State Road 246 to State Road 159. Local traffic will have access up to the point of closure. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and use extra caution while traveling in and around work zones.
